Experience a full day of game drives in the Kogatende and Bologonja areas, focusing on the Great Migration According to a recent update, the Great Migration has arrived in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti and is getting ready for the epic crossing over the Masai River. The herds are gathering along the river to the Gardenia Valley moving into the Nyamalumbwa Plains and the Sand River The Great Wildebeest Migration – the annual migration of giant herds of grazers across Northern Tanzania and Kenya is a truly spectacular event. Over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pasture.

Day 02

Northern Serengeti National Park

Hotel: Ang’ata Migration - Bologonja Camp or similar

Meal: B:Included L:Included D:Included

After an early breakfast we have a game drive The Northern Serengeti offers a chance to escape the crowds: this region of the park – wedged between the Central Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve to the north – is remote and relatively inaccessible, which means it sees fewer visitors. Travelers who make it to this corner of the Serengeti will be rewarded with gorgeous landscapes, The 800-kilometre trek of the immense wildebeest herd is the largest mammal migration on earth. The timing of the migration coincides with the greening of nutritious grasses on the short-grass plains during the wet season. These areas are safer because predators can be easily spotted making it an ideal place for calving. However, the plains dry, and the wildebeest are forced to move in search of greener pastures in the western corridor. The northern extension of the ecosystem has the highest rainfall, but the grasses are the least nutritious.

Our guides will choose the best spotting locations to watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the migration, sometimes surrounded by wildebeest as well as hippo’s pools, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest. We journey from the wide-open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top we can look out across the vast grasslands.
