Pennsylvania's capital city is situated along the Susquehanna River became an booming industrialized city in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Harrisburg was settled in 1719 by John Harris, Sr. and later named after him. During the American Civil War, many Union soldiers were trained at Camp Curtin in Harrisburg. Points of interest are the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, National Civil War Museum, Market Square and State Museum of Pennsylvania.
